Blanket Coverage

Donations come in all shapes and sizes. From library books to laptops, from stationery to socks - and not forgetting the lifesize skeleton (educational of course), everything helps and has its purpose. But rarely are they as beautiful, colourful or as thoughtful as this gorgeous set of baby blankets, created especially for The Rock to distribute to new mothers.

Two creative and compassionate UK friends, who have never been to Uganda themselves, have been donating these sensational, crocheted baby blankets on a regular basis since lockdown. All Ugandan newborns are wrapped up very warmly despite the equatorial climate, so blankets are essential kit. Not only supremely practical, these are all stunning. Each one is unique, representing hours of work and brings a real smile to the surprised recipient, as gifts for new mothers and babies are sadly quite rare. 

Small, individual acts of kindness make a huge difference, that the sender or donor may never see. These few photos provide a glimpse of the priceless pleasure that they bring. 'Small is beautiful.'
